
Monarchs Name Klemm Captain

MANCHESTER, NH - The Manchester Monarchs, the primary affiliate of the Los Angeles Kings, have named defenseman Jon Klemm the team captain, left wing Jeff Giuliano and defenseman Peter Harrold as alternate captains at home games, and centers Gabe Gauthier and Matt Ryan as alternate captains at road games for the 2007-08 season, Monarchs Director of Hockey Operations Hubie McDonough announced today.
Klemm, 37, is in his first season with the Monarchs. The 6-foot-2, 205-pound native of Cranbrook, British Columbia, has played 751 career NHL games over 11 seasons and recorded 142 points (42-100=142) with the Dallas Stars, Chicago Blackhawks, Colorado Avalanche and Quebec Nordiques. Klemm was a member of the 1996 and 2001 Stanley Cups championships with the Avalanche.
Giuliano, 28, is in his sixth season with the Monarchs organization (2002-present). The 5-foot-9, 205-pound native of Nashua, New Hampshire, has collected 84 points (27-57=84) and 89 penalty minutes in 258 games with the Monarchs. Giuliano played in 48 games with the Kings during the 2005-06 season, recording seven points (3-4=7) and 26 penalty minutes.
Harrold, 24, is a second-year defenseman with the Monarchs. In 2006-07, the 5-foot-11, 195-pound native of Kirtland Hills, Ohio, finished second among blueliners in Manchester with 34 points (7-27=34) and 43 penalty minutes in 62 games. Harrold also collected two assists in 12 games with the Kings last season and represented PlanetUSA in the 2007 Rbk Hockey AHL All-Star Classic. Harrold has six assists in seven games this season with the Monarchs.
Gauthier, 23, is in his second season with the Monarchs and is currently leading the team in scoring with 12 points (4-8=12) in eight games. The 5-foot-9, 193-pound native of Torrance, California, finished his rookie season in 2006-07 with 42 points (14-28=42) and 54 penalty minutes in 69 games. Gauthier also appeared in five games with the Kings last season.
Ryan, 23, is in his fourth season with the Monarchs. The 5-foot-11, 182-pound native of Sharon, Ontario, has 72 points (29-43=72) and 209 penalty minutes in 205 games since 2004. Ryan also appeared in 12 games with the Kings during the 2005-06 season and collected an assist.
