Admirals Fall to Moose 6-3

Milwaukee, WI-The Milwaukee Admirals surrendered six unanswered goals and fell to the Manitoba Moose 6-3 on Friday night at the Bradley Center. The loss was the first of the season on home ice for the Ads.

Things started well enough for Milwaukee as Mike Santorelli put the Admirals up 1-0 on a tic-tac-toe power-play goal at 12:08 of the first period. With the Ads on the power play John Vigilante fired a pass down to Matt Ellison, who immediately found Santorelli in the slot and he beat Manitoba goalie Cory Schneider with a one-timer. It was the Admirals first goal during regulation play in 139:29.

Milwaukee had a golden opportunity to end the first period, but they were unable to find the back of the net during 1:17 of five-on-three play and they finished the first period with the 1-0 lead.

The Admirals would go up by two on Santorelli's second goal of the game at the 2:05 mark of the second. Vigilante drove hard to the Manitoba net and the dumped the puck to Santorelli in the slot and the Northern Michigan alum crammed it home.

Antti Pihlstrom made it 3-0 Ads at 8:40 when he deflected an Alexander Sulzer shot from the point. However, the Moose would get two of those goals back by the end of the stanza, including a marker by Brad Moran with less than one second to play in the period.

Manitoba would tie the score at three just 2:06 into the third when Alexandre Bolduc jammed home a power-play tally from right in front of Admirals netminder Pekka Rinne before taking the lead for good on a breakaway goal by Michael Grabner at the 5:09 mark.

Juraj Simek made it 5-3 at 10:40 of the third before former Admiral Greg Classen finished the scoring with an empty-netter with just under two minutes to play in the game.

Santorelli paced the Admirals offense with his two goals, which now give him a team-best five red-lighters on the year. Vigilante and Matt Ellison each finished with a pair of assists for the Admirals. Moran (1g-1a), Simek (1g-1a), Shaun Heshka (2a), Pierre-Cedric Labrie (1g-1a), Grabner (1g-1a), and Bolduc (1g-1a) all finished the night with two-points for the Moose.

The Admirals are off until next Thursday when they host the Houston Aeros at 7:00 pm at the Bradley Center.
