MANCHESTER, N.H. - Manchester Monarchs Head Coach and Director of Hockey Operations, Rich Seeley, announced today that Ashton Rome has been acquired from the Worcester Railers in exchange for Justin Agosta.

The Monarchs are the ECHL affiliate of the National Hockey League's Los Angeles Kings.

Rome, 32, returns to Manchester for the second time in his career, after playing in 30 games for the Railers this season, recording 16 points on six goals and 10 assists, while racking up 41 penalty minutes. Rome has now played in 162 ECHL games, scoring 114 points on 60 goals and 54 assists. Last season, Rome totaled 12 goals and six assists for 18 points, while playing in 36 games for the Monarchs.

The 6-foot-1, 203-pound native of Nesbitt, MB, was originally drafted by the Boston Bruins in the 2004 NHL Entry Draft (#108 overall) but did not sign. After a final season in the WHL, Rome was then drafted by the San Jose Sharks in the 2006 NHL Entry Draft (#143 overall). In his career, Rome has logged 294 AHL games with the Worcester Sharks, Toronto Marlies, Hershey Bears and Portland Pirates, and scored 78 points on 40 goals and 38 assists, winning a Calder Cup in 2010.

Rome and the Monarchs return to the ice Friday, Mar. 9 (7 p.m.), when they face-off against the Adirondack Thunder at Cool Insuring Arena.
