Brampton Beast News Release

BRAMPTON, ONTARIO - Chris Leveille scored on the power play but the Brampton Best would drop a close game to the Reading Royals by a score of 4-3.

The Brampton Beast welcome the Reading Royals to town for the final School Day Game of the season.

Brampton jumped out to an early lead courtesy of Alex Foster. The big forward received a perfect pass from David Vallorani and was able to wire a wrister into the back of the net behind Royals starter Branden Komm at 7:18.

The Royals fought back and tied the game at 8:38 off a slick backhand from Adam Schmidt, but Brampton wouldn't be denied for long.

With the Beast on the power play, Vincent Dunn found Jordan Henry who sent a shot towards the net. Chris Leveille redirected the bouncing puck and the Beast regained the lead at 13:16.

Brampton wasn't through yet, and Matt Petgrave stretched the lead to 3-1 with a shot from the dot at 18:21. Jeff King picked up his seventh helper of the season on the tally.

The Beast would head into the first intermission up 3-1 and knotted up at shots 14 apiece.

The second period saw the Royals pull even with Brampton. The first goal was a Matt Willows penalty shot that beat Marcus Hogberg low on the blocker side a few minutes in.

With less than a minute left, Reading struck again, this time from Matt Wilkins. He took a feed in front from the aforementioned Willows and sent it top shelf.

The score after the second stood even at 3-3 and shots favoured Brampton to the tune of 25-22.

The third period saw Brampton make a mistake and Reading capitalize on it. Tyler Brown came in on a partial breakway and was able to beat Hogberg high for the go-ahead goal at 6:49.

Brampton would try and mount a comeback in the dying minutes, but a penalty all but killed the momentum. Reading hung on to take it by a score of 4-3. Hogberg was tagged with the loss and finished with 31 saves.

Notes: Molson Three Stars 3) Leveille (BRA) 2) Komm (REA) 1) Willows (REA). Reading finished the game one-for-six on the man advantage. Brampton was one-for-four. The Beast next play Friday night at home. They will take on Norfolk at 7:15 PM.
