St. John's IceCaps News Release

ST. JOHN'S, NL - Tyler Toffoli scored a hat-trick and added an assist and Jean-Francois Berube made 28 saves to earn the shutout, as the Manchester Monarchs blanked the St. John's IceCaps 6-0 Saturday night at Mile One Centre.

Jordan Weal also turned in a four-point performance for the Monarchs, picking up a goal and three helpers, while Andy Andreoff added a goal and two assists. Vincent LoVerde scored the other goal for the Monarchs.

Eddie Pasquale made 28 saves in a losing effort for St. John's.

With less than a minute left in the opening frame, Weal put the Monarchs on the board first. Breaking into the IceCaps' zone on the rush, Brian O'Neill sent a cross-ice feed to Weal who one-timed it stick side past Pasquale to make it 1-0.

In the second period, the Monarchs extended their lead to two at 4:49 on the penalty kill. After a turnover in the neutral zone, Hunter Bishop dropped the puck to Andreoff to set up a shorthanded 2-on-1, and Andreoff roofed it high over the blocker of Pasquale.

LoVerde made it 3-0 for Manchester at 12:48, when he took a pass from Toffoli before snapping it glove side.

Manchester picked up where they left off in the third period, as Toffoli - taking a behind-the-net pass from Andreoff on the man advantage - one-timed his eighth of the season top shelf on Pasquale to put the Monarchs up by four at 3:48.

Then, at 12:53, Toffoli found the twine again, burying the rebound of a Colin Miller shot past a helpless Pasquale to make it 5-0.

Toffoli, notching his third goal of the contest, made it 6-0 on the power play at 17:47 when he took a cross-crease feed from Weal and deposited it glove side.

With less than two minutes to play, however, a brawl erupted in front of the Monarchs' goal that lead to 26 minutes in penalties before time expired.

The IceCaps look to take two-of-three from the Monarchs Monday night (7:30 PM NT), when the two clubs close out their three-game series at Mile One Centre.
