Portland Pirates News Release

Lewiston, ME - The Pirates will welcome the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins for their only visit of the season tonight at the Androscoggin Bank Colisee. Puck drop is 7 PM as the Pirates look to extend their home point streak ti 8 games.

The Pirates dropped a 4-3 shootout decision to the Springfield Falcons last night, but extended their home point streak to 7 games. Lucas Lessio scored twice for the Pirates, while Louis Domingue made 26 saves, but the Cody Goloubef scored the game tying goal as well as the shootout winner for the Falcons. Andy Miele added two assists to his season tally, and now sits alone in 13th place in career points with 141 and 12th in career assists with 90, passing Norm Batherson in both categories.

Wilkes-Barre/Scranton met the Providence Bruins in a rematch of their Eastern Conference Semifinal series from last year, falling 5-1. Harry Zolnierczyk had the Penguin's goal, while both Jeff Deslauriers and Eric Hartzell saw time in net for the Penguins. Despite the loss, the Penguins are tied with the Springfield Falcons, last night's Pirates opponent, for the least goals allowed in the Eastern Conference with 95. Wilkes-Barre/Scranton defenseman and former Biddeford Tiger Brian Dumoulin will return to the Androscoggin Bank Colisee for the first time since winning the state championship in 2008.

This is the only meeting at the Colisee this season between the Pirates and the Penguins, who last played on March 16th, 2013. Wilkes-Barre/Scranton won both contests hosted by the Pirates last year, which featured a combined total of 120 penalty minutes. Chris Brown led the Pirates with two home goals for the Pirates, while Andy Miele chipped in a goal and an assist.
