Manchester Monarchs News Release
MANCHESTER, N.H. - Manchester Monarchs Head Coach and Director of Hockey Operations, Rich Seeley, announced today that Jordan LaVallee-Smotherman has been returned from loan by the Springfield Thunderbirds (AHL), and Zac Lynch has been recalled by the Thunderbirds.
The Monarchs are the ECHL affiliate of the National Hockey League's Los Angeles Kings and the American Hockey League's Ontario Reign.
LaVallee-Smotherman, 30, played in five games for the Thunderbirds since being loaned Dec. 3, without recording a point. Before heading to Springfield, LaValle-Smotherman played in six games for the Monarchs since signing a Standard Player Contract on Nov. 14, and scored five points on four goals and one assist.
The 6-foot-3, 225-pound native of Corvallis, Ore., was a fourth-round pick (#116 overall) of the Atlanta Thrashers in the 2005 NHL Entry Draft. In his professional career, LaVallee-Smotherman has played in 368 AHL games with the Chicago Wolves, Syracuse Crunch and Providence Bruins, recording 164 points on 78 goals and 86 assists, along with 400 penalty minutes. The left-shot forward has also played in four career NHL games with the Thrashers, recording two points on a goal and an assist.
Lynch, 24, heads to the Thunderbirds after playing 11 games with the Monarchs this season, scoring 10 points on four goals and six assists. Lynch is currently in his first full professional season since graduating from Robert Morris University (NCAA) in 2016. Lynch finished his career at RMU as the school's all-time scoring leader (156 pts.), and was named a Top-Ten Finalist for the 2015-16 Hobey Baker Award.
The 6-foot, 190-pound native of Pittsburgh, Pa., played seven games for the Portland Pirates (AHL) after his collegiate career was finished, where he tallied his first professional point Apr. 2 against the Hartford Wolfpack. Lynch leaves the Monarchs on a four-game point streak (3g, 4a), along with scoring a goal in his last three games.
LaValle-Smotherman and the Monarchs are back in action Friday, Dec. 16 (7 p.m.) when they host the Elmira Jackals at SNHU Arena for the start of a two-game weekend series.
