WICHITA, KS (November 8, 2015) -- The Missouri Mavericks defeated the Wichita Thunder in their second match-up of the weekend by the score of 2-1 after dominating puck possession through sixty (60) minutes of regulation hockey. The Mavs outshot the Thunder 46-23 in the rivalry matchup.

Parker Milner made a back-to-back appearance for the Mavericks between the pipes on Sunday evening after shutting out the Thunder 1-0 at Silverstein Eye Centers Arena on Saturday night. Milner kept the Thunder at bay, with twenty-two (22) saves. He improves to a 1.42 goals-against average and owns a .947 save percentage through his five (5) starts for the Mavs.

The Mavericks wasted no time unloading an aggressive offensive run at the Wichita end of the ice to start the game; their main obstacle being the impressive performance of Thunder net-minder, David Shantz, who only allowed two (2) Mavericks goals in forty-six (46) opportunities. Regardless, Missouri was still able to hit twine in the opening frame, as rookie forward, Tanner Fritz, scored his first professional goal at 15:54 to give his team the 1-0 advantage. Bryce Anelsoski and Colin Markison assisted on the play.

David deKastrozza also scored his first goal of the season and bumped the Mavericks up 2-0 over the Thunder at 11:39 of the second period off a feed from Rocco Carzo. Scott Allen was credited with the secondary assist.

The Thunder claimed one goal past Milner in the second period when Mason Baptista scored with the help of Anthony Deluca and Andrew Huff at 16:54.

Missouri continued to drive hard to the Thunder net in the third period, giving Milner plenty of time between seeing any action at their own end of the ice. The Mavs held their 2-1 lead through the remainder of regulation and registered their eighth point of the season from a win over the Wichita Thunder. Missouri will face the Thunder a total of fifteen (15) times this season. The team with the highest point total through this series will be awarded the Independence Cup title and a donation toward their organization's youth hockey program.

The Mavericks play their next games on the road against the Thunder, in another back-to-back match-up on Friday, Nov. 13 and Saturday, Nov. 14 at INTRUST Bank Arena. The Mavs will return home on Tuesday, Nov. 14 when they host the Allen Americans for the first time this season at Silverstein Eye Centers Arena. Tickets are available online at TicketMaster.com and in-person at the arena box office.

Fans are encouraged to download the Mavericks new mobile app update for free on their apple and android devices to listen to all the action live on game-day.
