Kansas City Mavericks News Release

Independence, MO (December 2, 2014) - Missouri Mavericks announced on Tuesday that the team has acquired young, talented defenseman Patch Alber from the Elmira Jackals in exchange for forward Kellan Tochkin.

Alber, 25, is in his second professional season playing all 84 of his pro games with Elmira. Over his time with the Jackals, the Clifton Park, New York native scored six goals with 18 assists. This season, Alber has six helpers in 19 games.

"Patch has great instincts and is extremely talented and seasoned, especially for being in just his second season," said Matvichuk. "He sees the ice very well and will help the offense and power play while still being responsible in his own zone. We are very excited to get him in the line-up and add him to our defensive group."

Alber will wear number 5 for the Mavericks and will make his first appearance in a Missouri sweater on Tuesday night against the Quad City Mallards.

Prior to jumping to the ECHL, the 5-10, 180-pound defenseman played 113 games with Boston College totaling four goals and 25 assists. His best year was his junior season where he posted a goal with 13 assists in 44 games.

The Mavericks are back in action on Tuesday night when they host the Quad City Mallards at the Independence Events Center with face-off set for 7:05 PM (CST).

Missouri, having bested the Mallards in their first two contests will look to continue the streak when they meet Quad City again at Independence Events Center tonight.

Tickets are available for purchase online at TicketMaster.com or in-person at the Silverstein Eye Centers Box Office at Independence Events Center.
