Missoula's Early Runs Lead to Series Split

The Missoula Osprey scored six runs in the first four innings and cruised to a 9-4 win over the Ogden Raptors Thursday night at Lindquist Field.

In the first inning, Sergio Alcantara drew a leadoff walk and stole second. Two batters later, Stewart Ijames doubled home Alcantara down the right-field line. Trevor Mitsui followed with a single to center to score Ijames and give the Osprey a 2-0 lead.

The Raptors responded with a run in the bottom of the inning. Devan Ahart started with a triple and scored on a Mike Ahmed single to center.

In the third, the Osprey added two more runs. Alcantara singled with one out to center. Fernery Ozuna then hit a two-run homer to left, his sixth of the season to put Missoula up 4-1.

The Raptors again responded with just one run. This time, Ahart hit a solo homer to right, his second of the season to cut the lead to 4-2.

In the fourth, Missoula scored two again. With one out, Bennie Robinson and Tyler Humphreys drew back-to-back walks. Two batters later, Alcantara delivered again with a two-run double to extend the lead to 6-2.

Ahart finished 3-for-4 and a double short of the cycle. The game ended with Ahart on deck.

Colin Hering hit his first career home run in the sixth inning. With two outs, Hering hit a solo homer to left field.

After splitting the four-game series with Missoula, the Raptors host the Helena Brewers for a three-game series, starting Friday. Jose De Leon takes the mound for Ogden against Helena's Luis Ortega. It will be Military Affairs Night, and the Raptors will be wearing special camouflaged jerseys. Game starts at 7:00 and can be heard on 97.5 The Zone.
