
Mississippi Announces Opening Night Roster

BILOXI, Miss. â At the Annual "Meet the Players Party", which was held at Imperial Palace Casino, Mississippi Sea Wolves general manager and coach Bob Woods announced the 2004-05 opening night roster.
The Sea Wolves begin their ninth ECHL season at 7:35 p.m. on Friday against the Louisiana IceGators at the Mississippi Coast Coliseum.
The Sea Wolves opening night roster is as follows:
Goaltenders (2): Randy Hevey and Jason Wolfe.
Defense (7): Chris Cava, Kerry Ellis-Toddington, Lee Jacobson, Mike Jarmuth, Mike Martone, Milt Mastad and Austin Miller.
Forwards (11): Anthony Battaglia, Darryl Campbell, Nicolas Corbeil, Bobby Cunningham, Lucas Drake, Louis Dumont, Jeff Hutchins, Andy Johnson, Jay Legault, Travis Lisabeth and Tristan Lush.
"I'm very confident with the lineup that we have," said Woods. "Every ECHL team is going to be a lot different than last year. Right away, it's going to be a good test for us this on home opening weekend against Louisiana (on Friday) and Pensacola (on Saturday)."
As voted by the players, Dumont has been selected as captain, while Martone and Mastad were selected as alternate captains.
There are eight returning players in the Mississippi lineup from last season, which features defensemen Cava, Ellis-Toddington, and Miller. Forwards coming back from 2003-04 include Battaglia, Drake, Dumont, Hutchins and Lisabeth.
There are three veteran players, defined as an individual who has played 288 regular season games of professional hockey, Cunningham, Dumont and Mastad.
Drake, Jarmuth and Lush are the rookies, defined as a player who has not played 25 professional games, including playoffs, during his career.
There are 13 Canadian-born players on the roster, Campbell, Cava, Corbeil, Cunningham, Dumont, Ellis-Toddington, Hutchins, Jarmuth, Johnson, Legault, Lisabeth, Martone and Mastad.
Six Sea Wolves were born in the United States, Battaglia, Drake, Jacobson, Hevey, Miller and Wolfe, while Lush was born in Spain.
The tallest player is Wolfe at 6-foot-5, while Dumont and Drake are the shortest at 5-foot-10.
Cunningham, Jacobson and Wolfe are each 230 pounds, to weigh in as the heaviest Sea Wolves. Dumont is the lightest at 180 pounds.
The average height of the team is 6-foot-1, while the average team weight is 206 pounds.
Dumont is the oldest player at 31 years of age, while Corbeil is the youngest at 21.
The average age of the team is 25 years, eight months.
In other news, Johnson and Lush were placed on the 7-day injured reserve.
The puck drops on the Sea Wolves ninth season as a member of the 28-team ECHL at 7:35 p.m. on Friday, hosting the Louisiana IceGators at the Mississippi Coast Coliseum. It's "2-for-1 Military Night", sponsored by Keesler Federal Credit Union. Fans are asked to bring "Care Package Items" to be delivered to the troops in Iraq. Each fan that brings an item will receive a free voucher for a future Sea Wolves game.
At 7:35 p.m. on Saturday, Mississippi hosts the Pensacola Ice Pilots at the Wolves Den. The game promotion consists of $2 hotdogs and $2 drafts from 6:30-8:30 p.m.
