Missions' Win Streak Snapped in Rout

August 19, 2015 - Texas League (TL1)
San Antonio Missions News Release

Northwest Arkansas racked up 20 hits in a 12-2 rout of San Antonio Wednesday night at Wolff Stadium.

After getting shut out in Tuesday's opener, the Naturals quickly made sure there would not be a repeat performance Wednesday, erupting for six runs on six hits in the first against Missions' starter Casey Kelly.

In the bottom of the frame, San Antonio got one back off Northwest Arkansas starter Jonathan Dziedzic courtesy of a Diego Goris RBI single to right.

Two innings later, the Naturals opened up a commanding 10-1 lead with a four-run rally capped by an Alex Liddi single of reliever Brandon Alger. All of the Northwest Arkansas runs were charged to Kelly (1-8), who allowed career highs in runs, earned runs (10) and hits (13).

After Goris delivered the Missions' second and final run with another single in the bottom of the third, the Naturals capped scoring with a pair of runs off reliever Stephen Kohlscheen in the eighth.

Liddi, Raul Mondesi and Parker Morin each had four hits in Northwest Arkansas' victory, which snapped San Antonio's four-game win streak. The 20 hits were the most by a Missions' opponent this season.

Dziedzic (9-6) earned the win after allowing just one earned run in his five innings of work. Paul Clemens allowed just one hit over the final three innings to notch his first save.

San Antonio (24-28, 55-67) wraps up its three-game series against Northwest Arkansas (19-32, 59-62) on Cricket Dollar Night presented by News 4 San Antonio. First pitch is set for 7:05 PM. Bryce Morrow (3-3, 5.68) will take the hill for the Missions, while the Naturals counter with fellow righty Luke Farrell (3-3, 3.23).

Notes: San Antonio made a notable outfielder swap Wednesday, beginning with Hunter Renfroe getting a promotion to Triple-A El Paso. In 112 games this season for the Missions, Renfroe batter .259 (109-for-421) with 22 doubles, three triples, 14 home runs, 54 RBI and 50 runs scored. Renfroe had an impressive Triple-A debut Wednesday night in El Paso's 8-1 win at Memphis, finishing 3-for-4 with a double, a homer, four RBI and two runs scored. Replacing Renfroe on the San Antonio roster was 22-year-old outfielder Auston Bousfield, who arrived from High-A Lake Elsinore of the California League. In 102 games with the Storm this season, Bousfield hit .273 (109-for-400) with 12 doubles, two triples, three homers, 32 RBI, 53 runs and 22 steals. Bousfield went 0-for-3 with a walk in his Missions' debut Wednesday.
