Missions Shut Out Frisco, Grab 1st Place Lead

SAN ANTONIO - The San Antonio Missions continued their six-game series against the Frisco RoughRiders Tuesday night. One night after Daniel Camarena's terrific performance, Jackson Wolf kept the RoughRiders off the board. The southpaw tossed six scoreless innings while striking out eight batters. Meanwhile, Tirso Ornelas and Yorman Rodriguez hit back-to-back homers in the third inning. The Missions notched their second consecutive shutout win and take over in first place of the Texas League South Division.

Owen White was the starting pitcher for the RoughRiders. The right-hander eased his way through the first inning but faced some adversity in the second inning. Daniel Johnson and Michael De La Cruz started the frame with base hits. Connor Hollis moved the runners with a sacrifice bunt. After striking out Jorge Ona, White issued a walk to Chandler Seagle to load the bases. Ray-Patrick Didder struck out swinging to end the inning.

Jackson Wolf was the starting pitcher for the Missions. After a smooth first inning, a terrific defensive play helped keep a run off the board in the second inning. With one out in the frame, Dustin Harris singled. He advanced to second base on a ground out. Trevor Hauver hit a ground ball in the hole between shortstop and third base. Didder made a diving stop, then threw out Hauver at first to end the inning.

The Missions used the long ball to take the lead in the top of the third inning. With one out in the frame, Tirso Ornelas and Yorman Rodriguez hit back-to-back homers to give San Antonio a 2-0 lead.

Following the third inning, White allowed just one base hit the remainder of his outing. He tossed six innings while allowing the two solo blasts. He issued one walk while striking out five batters. Alex Speas took over for White in the seventh inning.

Wolf put together another stellar outing on Thursday night. The southpaw recorded a quality start after tossing six scoreless innings. Wolf allowed just two hits and two walks while striking out eight batters. Justin Lopez took over for Wolf in the seventh inning.

Lopez kept the shutout alive with scoreless innings in the seventh and eighth. Nick Hernandez entered the game in the ninth inning looking for the save. It was not easy for Hernandez as he allowed two singles to start the inning. After striking out Chris Seise, Harris lined into a double play to end the inning.

The San Antonio Missions will continue their six-game series with the Frisco RoughRiders on Friday, June 2nd. Right-hander Duncan Snider (0-3, 3.89) is scheduled to pitch for the Missions. Right-hander Nick Krauth (0-1, 7.71) is scheduled to pitch for the RoughRiders. First pitch is slated for 7:05 p.m. from Riders Field.
