Frisco RoughRiders News Release

FRISCO, TEXAS (June 9, 2015) - Trea Turner drove in three runs and scored two more to help drive San Antonio to an 8-4 win over the Frisco RoughRiders on Tuesday night at Dr Pepper Ballpark. The Riders defense aided San Antonio's cause with five errors while Missions starter Elliot Morris (2-4) allowed two runs over 6.2 innings to earn the victory.

San Antonio jumped on Riders starter Jose Leclerc (2-3) in the first inning when Travis Jankowski walked and scored on a single to right field by Turner. Nomar Mazara bobbled the line drive, allowing Jankowski to advance home and give the Missions a 1-0 lead. Leclerc (2-3) needed 93 pitches to get through four innings, losing his second consecutive start.

Frisco responded in the bottom of the second. With runners on second and third and two outs, Luis Mendez delivered a two-run base hit to put the Riders ahead 2-1. Mendez is now 8-for-23 with 12 RBI with runners in scoring position this season.

Frisco did not stay in the lead for long as San Antonio pounced against Leclerc in the third. Alberth Martinez led off the inning with a single, and advanced to second on a stolen base. Turner then tripled off the left field wall to tie the game at two. The Missions plated two more runs in the inning on RBI singles from Hunter Renfroe and Jason Hagerty.

Leading 4-2 in the fourth, San Antonio (26-30) scored another run on a Drew Robinson error and tacked on another in the sixth on a Turner ground out. The former first round pick finished the night 2-for-5 with three RBI and two runs scored.

With two outs in the eighth, Frisco (23-34) tried to put together a late rally. Nick Williams reached on a throwing error and later scored when Mazara hit his 11th double. The Riders cut the deficit to two runs when Mazara scored on a throwing error by Turner.

The Missions recovered those two runs in the ninth with an RBI double from Renfroe and later took advantage of a fifth Frisco error to score their eighth run of the game.

Texas Rangers pitcher LHP Martin Perez is expected to make a rehab start for the Riders on Wednesday at 7:05 p.m. The Missions will counter with RHP Casey Kelly (1-3). It's another Weiner Wednesday at Dr Pepper Ballpark, where fans can enjoy $1 hot dogs all game long. The team will host a "Full House Night" with special uniforms depicting scenes from the classic '90s sitcom on Friday, June 12 with a special guest appearance by Dave Coulier.
