Misell, Rodriguez Star But AirHogs Drop Game 3

LAREDO, Texas - The Laredo Lemurs used a game-tying home run in the 9th and a walkoff single in the 10th to down the AirHogs 3-2 at Uni-Trade Stadium Wednesday. Devon Rodriguez went deep for the 6th time this season in the loss. Texas got a brilliant start from Carlos Misell, who fired 6 innings of 3-hit, 1-run ball and faced just 21. Rodriguez put the team on top with a 2-run home run in the 3rd off Laredo starter Jose Nivar. The blast to right also scored Leon Byrd.

Jack Karraker and Trey Masek combined to face just 7 in the 7th and 8th, but in the 9th, Denis Phipps tied the game at 2

After the AirHogs failed to break through against Manny Martinez in the top of the 10th, Laredo completed the comeback. Facing Cody Culp, Jesus Posso doubled with 1 out and was replaced at 2nd by pinch runner Jimmy Norris. Norris would score when the next batter, Alvaro Rondon, singled to right center.

The loss was the 1st of the year for Culp. The win was the 2nd of the season for Martinez. The contest was 3rd straight and the 4th in the last 5 that has been decided by 1-run between the two ballclubs.

The AirHogs (33-62) and the Lemurs (54-41) close the series tomorrow at 7:05. LHP Griffin Russell is expected to start for the AirHogs.
