Minnesota United FC News Release

GOLDEN VALLEY, Minn. - Minnesota United will host LA Galaxy at Allianz Field on Saturday night for the last home match of the regular-season and are looking to avenge its defeat from just two weeks ago, where the California side - down two goals at the half - made a comeback for the eventual 4-3 victory over the Loons. Saturday's match is MNUFC's 'Fan Appreciation Night presented by Target' and three points would be the perfect culmination of the evening. After Minnesota's loss against LAFC, a win on the weekend is a must.

INTERIM HEAD COACH SEAN MCAULEY ON RESPONDING TO WEDNESDAY'S LOSS AND PLAYING AT HOME FOR ONE LAST REGULAR-SEASON GAME...

"The past is something that we have to reflect on and we have to respect it, but we also have to forget about it. We have to now focus on this two-game season, and we're going to put everything on this one game [against the LA Galaxy]. This is going to be it, this is going to be the last [regular-season] game of the season in front of our supporters and I think we owe it to them to win. I think we'll make some slight adjustments and maybe some in-game adjustments that maybe surprise the opposition."

GOALKEEPER DAYNE ST. CLAIR ON TAKEAWAYS FROM THE LAST MATCH AGAINST LA GALAXY AND EXPECTATIONS FROM THAT SQUAD...

"We put ourselves in a position to get that result away from home, and unfortunately, we let it slip through our hands which we can't shy away from. We know that we had the ability to win the game, and we can take confidence from that. A lot of those goals came from personal mistakes from a bunch of individuals, including myself. [We have to] be able to limit those mistakes. They [LA Galaxy] weren't a team that steamrolled us and played us out of the park and beat us. A lot of our individual mistakes led to their comeback. Eliminating those mistakes will give us an opportunity to win."

STORYLINES PRESENTED BY BMW

Storylines is a bit suspicious of LA Galaxy's recent recruiting strategy ahead of MNUFC's final home match of the season. I've also been thinking a bit about our last match against the Galaxy, and I'm now feeling like we need a quick history lesson to clear the air around a certain LA forward that I may have compared to an archeological relic last time out.

Like many teams bitten by the injury bug, the Galaxy sought attacking reinforcements during the summer transfer window. After an ACL injury put Javier "Chicharito" Hernandez out of action early this year, a new striker was a must-have for Greg Vanney's squad. So, just like your Loons, they signed a free agent, fresh off a successful career in English soccer. I'm not sure who inspired who, but I think someone was looking at someone else's homework.
