MARION, Ill. - The Gateway Grizzlies were held to just three hits in a 6-0 loss to the Southern Illinois Miners at Rent One Park on Thursday night, as the Miners took the rubber game of a three-game series.
Miners' starter Rick Teasley (8-2) took a no-hitter into the seventh before the Grizzlies (20-36) finally picked up their first hit. Teasley pitched seven scoreless innings en route to his league-leading eighth victory of the season.
RHP Donny Murray (0-2) allowed five runs in 4.1 innings of work. The Miners (37-20) jumped ahead in the second inning on Steve Marino's run-scoring triple, which was followed by a sacrifice fly from Brian Portelli. Southern Illinois led 2-0 after two innings.
After tallying a run in the third, the Miners broke the game open with two more in the fifth. Michael Earley capped off his night with an RBI single in the eighth inning to make it 6-0. Earley totaled three hits and three RBI in the contest.
The Grizzlies' bullpen did a solid job of keeping them in the game. LHP Jordan Spencer tossed a scoreless inning while RHP Byron Minnich allowed no runs in 1.2 innings. RHP Miguel Ramirez tossed two scoreless innings out of the Miners' bullpen.
Ben Waldrip, Grant Buckner, and Cody Livesay were the only players to record hits for Gateway.

The Grizzlies send RHP Vince Molesky (3-3, 6.23 ERA) to the mound against RHP Chris Carmain (4-2, 3.33 ERA). First pitch is at 6:35 p.m. The game can be heard on the Grizzlies Radio Network, which airs on 101 ESPN's digital platforms and 1400 AM KJFF. Sam Levitt will call the action.
