D.C. United News Release

CHANTILLY, VA (January 30, 2004) - D.C. United defender Milton Reyes has been called up to the Honduras National Team by Head Coach Bora Milutinovic. Honduras will face Lithuania in a friendly match on Feb. 18, in Tegucigalpa, Honduras. Reyes, who currently has 32 caps, makes his first appearance in the national team side since Nov. 11, 2001, when Honduras lost 3-0 to Mexico in qualifying for the 2002 World Cup.

"We are very pleased with Milton's call-up to the Honduras National Team," said United Technical Director Dave Kasper. "He has worked tremendously hard in the last nine months to recover from his ACL surgery and we are excited for our team and our fans that he will return to action this season."

Reyes, 29, was placed on injured reserve for the 2003 season after a torn ACL and meniscus suffered in a pre-season exhibition against the A-League Richmond Kickers. In 2002, Reyes was a stalwart for the Black-and-Red, missing only four matches and starting in all 24 appearances.

"I am pleased to have the opportunity to again wear my country's national colors," said Reyes. "It's great satisfaction for me to have the opportunity to play my first game with the national team since suffering my injury. I feel in debt with the fans and I will work as hard as I can side by side with my teammates in this new era of the national team so we can achieve our main objective, which is to qualify to the World Cup."

Reyes joined United in 2002 from CD Motagua in the Honduran Liga Nacional (First Division). His strong play in the back helped Motagua capture five tournament championships - both tournaments (the Apertura and Clausura) in the 1997/98 season and 1999/2000 season, and the 2001 Apertura.
