
Crew to head to Florida, Spain and South Carolina for 2004 spring training

COLUMBUS, Ohio (Friday, January 30) - The Columbus Crew will report for preseason training this Sunday, February 1, to begin two months of preparations for the 2004 season that begins on Saturday, April 3.
The Crew will kick off year No. 9 of Major League Soccer on April 3 at Columbus Crew Stadium. The Black & Gold will welcome the Eastern Conference-rival MetroStars to town for a 7:30 p.m. matchup.
The Crew's preseason camp will consist of training in Columbus, as well as trips to Florida, Spain and South Carolina.
After arriving this Sunday, the team will start training indoors on Monday, February 2, at the Sports Barn at Easton. The Black & Gold will train and remain in Columbus from February 2-15 before heading to Bradenton, Fla., to play games and train from February 16-26. After a brief stop back in Columbus, The Crew will then head to Lloret de Mar, Spain, from March 1-12. Training will resume in Columbus from March 13-19 and then The Crew will go to Charleston, S.C., from March 20-28 for the Carolina Challenge Cup. The team will then return to Columbus for Crew Week IX, March 28-April 2, heading into the season opener.
