Hamilton Bulldogs News Release

WINNIPEG, MB - With just 52 seconds remaining in the third period, Duncan Milroy ended Hamilton's franchise-long goalless drought at 199:55 and later scored in the shootout to lift the Bulldogs to a 2-1 win over the Manitoba Moose on Friday night at the MTS Centre. With the shootout win, Hamilton's season-high fourth straight road victory, the Bulldogs record improves to 20-19-1-5 on the season.

After a scoreless opening period, Manitoba broke the goose egg with just five seconds remaining in the second frame when Zack FitzGerald notched his fourth goal of the campaign. Colby Genoway and Alexandre Bolduc earned assists on FitzGerald's third tally against Hamilton this season.

Despite out-shooting the Moose 11-to-6 in the first period and 16-to-6 in the middle stanza, the Bulldogs trailed by a score of 1-0 heading into the third frame.

At 19:08 of the third period, Milroy snapped a shot past Moose netminder Cory Schneider to tie the score 1-1. The goal, Milroy's ninth of the season, was assisted by Matt D'Agostini and Eric Manlow and sent the game to overtime.

After overtime solved nothing, the game went to a shootout. Goaltender Carey Price closed the door on all four of Manitoba's shooters, while Daniel Corso and Milroy scored for Hamilton in the shootout to seal the win.

Between the pipes, Price made 20 saves on 21 shots for Hamilton to earn the win, while Manitoba netminder Cory Schneider stopped 30 of 31 shots in a losing effort.

The ‘Dogs were 0-for-4 on the power play and a perfect 4-for-4 on the penalty kill.

The Bulldogs scoreless drought of 199:55 was the franchise's longest streak without a goal. Hamilton went 190:39 without a goal from November 12th to November 19th during the 2004-2005 campaign. The ‘Dogs, who have been shutout in back-to-back games four times in franchise history, have never gone three consecutive games without a goal but came within 52 seconds of that mark.
