Syracuse, NY - The Syracuse Chiefs beat the Durham Bulls, 4-2, Wednesday afternoon at NBT Bank Stadium, to take two of the three games in the series against the South-Division leading Bulls. Jaff Decker and Andrew Stevenson homered, and Tommy Milone twirled seven brilliant shutout innings in the win.

Syracuse (40-55) struck first in the bottom of the fourth inning against Andrew Moore. Irving Falu led off with a single and moved to second on a Yadiel Hernandez groundout. José Marmolejos followed with a walk to put runners on first and second base. Decker then hammered a pitch over the right-field fence for a three-run home run that gave Syracuse a 3-0 lead.

The Chiefs added a run in the fifth with one swing of the bat. With two outs, Stevenson crushed a pitch over the wall in left field for a solo homer, extending the Syracuse advantage to 4-0.

Durham (54-41) got on the board in the top of the eighth against Koda Glover on Major-League rehab. Rob Refsnyder walked, Nick Ciuffo singled, and Johnny Field singled to load the bases. Kean Wong then struck out swinging for the first out of the inning. Willy Adames followed with a single to left field, scoring Refsnyder and keeping the bases loaded as Durham trimmed the Syracuse lead to three, 4-1. Christian Arroyo then grounded into a fielder's choice where Ciuffo was out at home for the second out of the inning. Glover then struck out Brandon Snyder to end the threat.

The Bulls pulled closer in the ninth. Justin Williams and Jason Coats both singled off Austin Adams to put runners at first and second. Refsnyder then grounded into a double play where Coats was out at second and Refsnyder was out at first, but Williams moved to third. Ciuffo followed with a single to right field, scoring Williams to make it a 4-2 ballgame.

Syracuse starting pitcher Tommy Milone was stellar. The left-hander struck out a season-high ten batters in seven scoreless innings on the mound while allowing only three hits and no walks. Milone through 88 total pitches, including 69 strikes.

The Chiefs welcome the Louisville Bats to town on Thursday night for the start of a four-game series. RHP Austin Voth is scheduled to start for Syracuse opposite of LHP Cody Reed for Louisville. First pitch is set for 6:35 p.m.
