
Pigs Fall in Finale

Lehigh Valley IronPigs News Release
After taking the first two games of thei series in Columbus, the Lehigh Valley IronPigs were unable to complete the sweep falling to the Clippers 2-1 on Wednesday at Huntington Park. Tom Eshelman (1-8) allowed just two runs and struck out six but was tagged with the loss.
Eshelman put together another strong start for the Pigs. He went 5 1/3 and allowed seven hits while recording the six strikeouts. The lone Clippers runs came on a two-run home run by Eric Stamets in the bottom of the second inning. Jake Thompson and Hector Neris provided 2 2/3 innings of scoreless relief. Thompson allowed just one hit while Neris struck out two in his inning of work.
Lehigh Valley's offense was limited to just four hits. Stephen Fife (4-5) allowed three hits over five innings while striking out five. The lone run for the IronPigs came on an RBI groundout by Matt McBride, which was set up by an Adron Chambers triple.
Columbus used four pitchers and struck the Pigs out 14 times. Jon Edwards recorded six strikeouts in the two innings of work after taking over for Fife in the sixth.
Lehigh Valley's Ohio swing continues tomorrow night in Toledo. Drew Anderson (6-3) takes the mound for the IronPigs against Tyler Alexander (2-3) for the Mud Hens.
The IronPigs return home July 24 when they welcome the Gwinnett Stripers. That Tuesday evening contest will be Christmas in July at Coca-Cola Park with 1,500 kids receiving an IronPigs Elf on the Shelf presented by Lutron.
