Charlotte Knights News Release
(UPTOWN CHARLOTTE, NC) -- The Charlotte Knights shut out the Pawtucket Red Sox by a score of 3-0 on Wednesday night in game three of their four-game series from BB&T Ballpark in Uptown Charlotte. The win was Charlotte's second in as many days.
RHP Spencer Adams (2-3, 3.32) tossed six shutout innings en route to his second win of the season with the Knights. Adams, 22, allowed just six hits on the evening and struck-out two batters. He threw 94 pitches on the night. The Charlotte bullpen was sharp in relief of Adams. RHP Rob Scahill allowed just two runs over two shutout innings, while RHP Thyago Vieira earned his team-high sixth save of the season after a perfect ninth inning.
Offensively, the Knights scored three runs on just four hits, but it was enough for their 44th win of the season. Shortstop José RodÃÅn put the Knights on the scoreboard in the sixth inning with his team-high 10th home run of the season. Left fielder Jake Elmore and third baseman Patrick Leonard each drove in a run to help pace the Charlotte offense. Center fielder Jacob May went 1-for-3 on the night to extend his hitting streak to 11 consecutive games.
Gates are set to open at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday and the Knights will welcome David Denman to meet and greet fans as part of the Harris Teeter and Old Spice Celeb Series. Denman starred on "The Office" as Roy Anderson. The first 2,000 fans through the gates will receive a T-Shirt courtesy of ForMyDesk.com.
Pre-game radio coverage of Thursday's 7:04 p.m. game is set for 6:50 p.m. on 730 The Game ESPN Charlotte. The "Voice of the Charlotte Knights" Matt Swierad and Mike Pacheco will have the call for all of the action.
