Idaho Steelheads News Release
(Boise, ID) - Head coach and director of hockey operations Hardy Sauter announced Tuesday that the Idaho Steelheads have traded defenseman Brendan Milnamow to the Bakersfield Condors in exchange for future considerations.
Also, forward Sean Backman has been re-assigned to Idaho by the NHL's Dallas Stars after opening the season with Texas of the American Hockey League.
Backman, a 24-year-old rookie out of Yale, has skated in eight games with Texas, picking up one goal and one assist along the way. He was the Ivy League Player of the Year last season, putting up 35 points (21 goals, 14 assists) in 29 games with the Bulldogs. He tallied 77 goals in 122 career games at Yale.
Milnamow, also 24, was an ECHL All Star for Idaho last season and was named the team's Ironman of the Year after appearing in every possible game - regular season and post season - for the Steelheads. In 87 total contests last season, Milnamow had three goals and 26 assists along the blue line. With his help, Idaho gave up the fewest goals in the ECHL last season.
The Union College product had been on the injured list after suffering an injury on Opening Night with Idaho.
Idaho (ECHL) and Texas (AHL) are the primary development affiliates of the Dallas Stars.
The Steelheads return home this week to host three games against the Stockton Thunder. With games on Wednesday and Saturday, it's a "Twice the Ice" week for Steelheads fans. Fans that purchase a $15 ticket for Wednesday's game can purchase a seat for Saturday's game for just $7.
