Gwinnett's Garbutt Named Sher-Wood Hockey ECHL Player of the Week

PRINCETON, N.J. - Ryan Garbutt of the Gwinnett Gladiators is the Sher-Wood Hockey ECHL Player of the Week for Nov. 1-7.

Garbutt had five goals, including three on the power play and one shorthanded, seven points and was a +4 as the Gladiators went 2-2-0 last week moving their overall record to 7-2-2.

Garbutt opened the week with a goal in a 5-2 loss to South Carolina on Monday and then scored two goals and added two assists in a 5-3 win against Greenville on Saturday. He ended the week with two goals, and was +3, in a 6-1 victory over Greenville on Sunday.

The 25 year old leads the ECHL with 10 goals and a +11 rating and he is tied for second in the league with 17 points.

A native of Winnipeg, Manitoba, Garbutt began his professional career with Corpus Christi of the Central Hockey League last season scoring 50 points (22g-28a) in 64 games. Prior to turning pro he played four seasons at Brown University scoring 58 points (29g-29a) in 116 games.

On behalf of Ryan Garbutt, a case of pucks will be donated to a Gwinnett youth hockey organization by Sher-Wood Hockey, the exclusive puck supplier of the ECHL. Since beginning its sponsorship of the award in 2000-01, Sher-Wood Hockey has donated more than 23,000 pucks to youth hockey organizations in ECHL cities.
