Gladiators Garbutt Named ECHL Player of the Week

The ECHL has named Gladiators forward Ryan Garbutt the ECHL Player of the Week for November 1st through 7th.

Garbutt lead the Gladiators in scoring during the week as Gwinnett improved to 7-2-2 on the year to remain the top team in the ECHL with 16 points.

The Winnipeg, Manitoba native finished the week with seven points as he earned five goals for Gwinnett, three on the power play and had a shorthanded goal for the Gladiators. He had a season best four points (two goals, two assists) in the Gladiators 5-3 win over Greenville on Saturday.

Garbutt currently shares second in scoring in the ECHL with 17 points and is tops in goals with ten on the season. He has six multiple-point games this season for Gwinnett and has posted two goals on three different occasions this year.

Garbutt played with Corpus Christi in the Central Hockey League last year. He earned 50 points (22 goals, 28 assists) in 64 games. He also appeared in one playoff game with Corpus Christi last year. Prior to turning pro, the 6-foot-1, 190-pound forward played four seasons at Brown University and collected 58 points (29 goals, 29 assists) in 116 career collegiate games.

Garbutt also skated in the Atlanta Thrashers Prospect Development Camp from July 8th thru 13th at the Ice Forum in Duluth.

The Gladiators are the AA affiliate of the Atlanta Thrashers and play all home games at the 11,355-seat Arena at Gwinnett Center, located just off I-85 on Sugarloaf Parkway in Duluth.
