CHARLESTON, SC - Every individual has a name and distinctive personality, and we're all fans of matchless names.

Minor League Baseball has announced that they are searching for the best name in the league and Charleston RiverDogs pitcher Zach Nuding has been selected as a candidate in the 5th Annual MiLB.com Moniker Madness bracket tournament.

Last year, MiLB.com Moniker Madness was one of the most popular features on MiLB.com.

"This is a fun, bracket-style tournament that is designed for fan interactivity on the club and MiLB.com websites," said RiverDogs General Manager Dave Echols. "MiLB.com is running the tournament in-season again this year to give more fans the opportunity to participate."

A 6-4, 250-pound right-hander, Nuding hails from Fort Worth, Texas, and attended Weatherford College. He was selected by the New York Yankees in the 30th round of the 2010 First-Year Player Draft and pitched in the Texas Collegiate League and was named to Baseball America's top 10 summer league prospects. Nuding was selected by the Pittsburgh Pirates in the 2009 draft (37th round), but chose to return to school.

This season, Nuding, 21, is sporting a 7-6 record and a 4.48 earned run average while starting 20 games. He has thrown 98.1 innings and has allowed 87 hits and 58 runs while walking 44 and striking out 82.

Round One runs through August 7, which the second round is Aug. 8-11. The third round is Aug. 12-15 with the semifinals slated for Aug. 16-18 with the finals set for Aug. 23-25. The winner will be announced on Friday, Aug. 26.

Past winners include Houston Summers (2007), Will Startup (2008), Dusty Napoleon (2009) and Rowdy Hardy (2010).
