Three Delmarva pitchers combined to hold the BlueClaws to just 4 hits as Lakewood was shut out for the 6th time this season. Lakewood falls to 2-3 now on their current 8 game road trip.

Lakewood ran into a good pitcher in David Baker, and 20 year old righty did his job throwing 6 1/3rd shutout innings on Monday. The Shorebirds bullpen threw 2 2/3rd perfect innings to close it out and win the series opener. BlueClaws SP Jesse Biddle pitched ok allowing 2 runs on 6 hits over 5 innings, but he just didn't get any run support in falling to 5-7 on the year.

Miguel Alvarez was Lakewood's best player offensively as the OF went 2-4 with a double. The other 2 hits for Lakewood were a single by Jim Murphy, and a double by Carlos Alonso. Delmarva pounded out 9 hits, all of them singles in scoring 4 runs in the game. Ty Kelly was 2-3 with a run scored, 2 singles, and a walk.

Uesday the BlueClaws will send out newcomer Austin Wright to make his first start as a BlueClaw. Wright was just called up from Williamsport to Lakewood, and the LHP was an 8th round pick by the Phillies out of Ole Miss less than 2 months ago. Delmarva will answer with a lefty of their own in Jarret Martin (5-6, 4.71 ERA). First Pitch is scheduled for 7:05 pm on Tuesday.
