Mike Ullrich Named ECHL Player of the Week

Orlando, FL - The Orlando Solar Bears, proud affiliate of the NHL's Minnesota Wild and Toronto Maple Leafs and AHL's Iowa Wild and Toronto Marlies, along with the ECHL announced today that Mike Ullrich has been named the Sher-Wood Hockey ECHL Player of the Week for December 30 - January 5.

Ullrich notched a goal on Monday, December 30, to help the Solar Bears to a 4-3 come-from-behind win over the Florida Everblades, picked up an assist in 3-2 overtime loss to Utah on Thursday, and then had a three point game with two goals and one assist against the Grizzlies in a thrilling 6-5 win on Friday. He capped off the week with two assists, including one on the overtime game-winning goal, on Sunday afternoon as Orlando defeated Utah 4-3 in extra time. Ullrich finished the week with a +5 rating.

The 27-year old forward has played in 29 games for the Solar Bears this season, leads the team with 18 assists, and is second with 26 points. He skated in three games for the Manchester Monarchs this year, scoring one goal. Ullrich has 66 points (25 goals, 41 assists) in 71 career ECHL games with Orlando, Trenton, South Carolina, and Pensacola.

On behalf of Mike Ullrich, a case of pucks will be donated to an Orlando youth hockey organization by Sher-Wood Hockey, the exclusive puck supplier of the ECHL. Since beginning its sponsorship of the award in 2000-01, Sher-Wood Hockey has donated more than 29,000 pucks to youth hockey organizations in ECHL cities.
