
Ontario's Hutchinson Named CCM ECHL Goaltender of the Week

PRINCETON, N.J. - Michael Hutchinson of the Ontario Reign is the CCM ECHL Goaltender of the Week for the week of Dec. 30-Jan. 5. It is the second time this season that Hutchinson has won the weekly honor, after also winning for the week ending Nov. 17.
The 23-year-old went 4-0-0 with one shutout, a 1.97 goals-against average and a save percentage of .929 last week.
Hutchinson stopped all 31 shots he faced in a 3-0 win at Alaska on Tuesday, made 27 saves in a 6-5 victory at Las Vegas on Friday, turned aside 15 shots in a 3-1 win against the Wranglers on Saturday and stopped 31 shots in a 3-2 win over San Francisco on Sunday.
A native of Barrie, Ontario, Hutchinson has appeared in 27 games this season with a record of 21-4-2. He leads the ECHL in wins, while he is tied for second in shutouts (3), is fourth in goals-against average (2.17) and is tied for eighth in save percentage (.922).
Under contract to the Winnipeg Jets of the National Hockey League, Hutchinson has appeared in 47 career ECHL games with Ontario and Reading posting a record of 31-10-6 with four shutouts, a 2.44 goals-against average and a save percentage of .920.
Selected by the Boston Bruins in the third round (77th overall) of the 2008 NHL Entry Draft, Hutchinson has also seen action in 87 career American Hockey League games with Providence where he is 39-37-5 with seven shutouts, a 2.57 goals-against average and a save percentage of .916.
