Hutchinson Named ECHL Goaltender of the Week

ONTARIO, Calif. - The Ontario Reign, back-to-back Pacific Division Champions and proud affiliate of the NHL's Los Angeles Kings and Winnipeg Jets, is proud to announce that goaltender Michael Hutchinson has received his third league award being named CCM ECHL Goaltender of the Week for the second time this season.
Hutchinson, 23, had a 4-0-0 record for the week of Dec. 30 - Jan. 5 including a 3-0 shutout over Alaska and a 3-2 overtime win against San Francisco. He finished the week with a 1.97 goals-against average and a .929 save percentage.
The Barrie, Ontario native turned away all 31 shots faced in Alaska on Tuesday, held on to a 6-5 win on Friday with 27 saves in Las Vegas, made 15 saves the next night in Las Vegas with a 3-1 win, and stopped 31 San Francisco shots on Sunday in the Reign's 3-2 overtime win.
So far this season, Hutchinson has appeared in 27 games for Ontario with a record of 21-4-2. He has more wins than any other goalie in the ECHL with 21, is tied for second with three shutouts, is fourth with a 2.17 goals-against average, and ranks eighth in save percentage with a .922.
In his career, the goaltender has appeared in 47 ECHL games between Ontario and Reading with an overall record of 31-10-6 with four shutouts, a 2.44 goals-against average, and a .920 save percentage.
Originally a Boston Bruins third round selection (#77 overall) in the 2008 NHL Entry Draft, Hutchinson is currently under contract to the NHL's Winnipeg Jets. He has had one call-up to St. John's, the Jets AHL affiliate, this season. In his career, Hutchinson has played in 87 AHL games with Providence where he holds a record of 39-37-5 including seven shutouts, a 2.57 goals-against average and a .916 save percentage.
