August 16, 2009 - Eastern League (EL1)
Harrisburg Senators News Release

On Sunday afternoon at Metro Bank Park the Senators used their recent recipe for success in beating the Trenton Thunder 3-1. The Sens have relied on strong pitching and solid defense to move to 10-5 in August and 57-62 overall.

Sunday was no different with Brad Meyers pitching the first seven innings, allowing just a single run and earning his second win with the Senators. Drew Storen pitched the final two innings retiring six of the seven batters he faced to earn his third save of the season.

The game was scoreless and the Sens were hitless into the fifth inning when Leonard Davis doubled off of Thunder starter Lance Pendleton. Davis scored on a two-out hit off the bat of Bill Rhinehart to give the Sens a 1-0 lead.

Trenton tied the game in the seventh on a two-out single off the bat of James Cooper.

The Sens scored twice in the last of the seventh, one on an error and run number three on a sacrifice fly into foul territory off the bat of Sean Rooney.

The Sens took two of three from Trenton and 10 of the 16 games played between the two teams this season. After an off day on Monday, the Senators return to action on Tuesday night against the Altoona Curve at 7:00pm with LH Aaron Thompson on the mound.
