ENTERING TODAY'S ACTION...
Today, the SeaWolves look to avoid dropping their fifth straight game and a three-game sweep as they take on the Connecticut Defenders (San Francisco Giants) in the final game of a three-game series at Dodd Stadium. The Erie road woes continued on Saturday night as the Defenders edged the âWolves 3-2. The loss dropped the Howlers to a league-worst 21-35 on the road. The âWolves have dropped eight of their last nine road games and since July 8, the club 3-12 away from Jerry Uht Park. Erie has not won a series on the road since taking two of three from Binghamton July 4-6...Despite losing seven of their last nine games, the SeaWolves are still in the thick of the Southern Division Wild Card chase. With 22 games remaining in the season, the SeaWolves are 1.5 games behind Wild Card leading Reading and a half game ahead of fourth place Bowie...The âWolves are 21-15 and 8-3-1 in series against the EL North. Erie is in a stretch of 15 consecutive games wrapping up the Northern Division portion of their schedule. The Defenders have won four of five against Erie and are the only team from the North with a winning record against the âWolves...On the road trip, the SeaWolves are 7-for-55 with runners in scoring position...Erie has lost three straight games by a run and all four losses on the current losing streak have been by three runs or fewer...Erie is six-games over .500. The last time Erie was only six-games over the .500 mark was when the club was 46-40 on July 9. The last time Erie was less than six-games over .500 was was May 7 when the team was 15-10...Erie's four-game losing streak is the longest current losing streak in the EL.
