
Mesoraco Extends Reached Safely Streak to 28 Games

The Dash routed the Hillcats again on Saturday night with an 11-4 victory at BB&T Ballpark. On Friday night the Cats gave up a season-high 13 runs and in this contest they allowed a season-high 19 hits and fell to 0-5 against Winston-Salem.
Winston-Salem began their offense outburst early with a pair of runs in the first inning on a two-run home run by Seth Loman. In the second they tacked on three more runs with the aid of two more homers, one by Kyle Shelton and the other by Justin Greene and after a two innings it was 5-0 Dash.
Lynchburg got on the board with a pair of runs in the third inning. Devin Mesoraco smacked a two-run home run, his ninth of the season to cut the lead to three. Mesoraco has now reached safely in 28 straight games, the longest streak in the Carolina League this season.
The Dash responded with four more runs in the fourth and two more in the fifth to make it an 11-2 game. Eduardo Escobar hit a home run in those frames and Jason Bour smacked a two-run double.
In the sixth inning Josh Fellhauer hit his third double of the contest to drive home Kevyn Feiner for the Hillcats third run of the night. Lynchburg would plate one more run on the night in the ninth inning with a solo home run by Cody Puckett.
The win went to Nate Jones (4-1) for Winston-Salem (30-13) and the loss went to starter Lance Janke (1-4) for Lynchburg (17-26). The Hillcats have now lost nine of their last 11 games. The Cats will try to avoid the sweep on Sunday at 2:00 p.m. back at BB&T Ballpark. Right-hander Brad Boxberger (3-3, 3.11) will head to the hill for Lynchburg opposite righty Charles Leesman (5-1, 4.85) for Winston-Salem.
