(SALEM, VA) Brock Huntzinger made quick work of the Potomac Nationals Saturday night in Salem, and the Sox cruised to a 2-0 victory that leveled the series at a game apiece. The righthander earned his fourth win of 2010 with six dominant innings; he allowed just two hits and needed only 59 pitches to record 18 outs.

Brad Peacock was the hard luck loser. The righthander pitched six solid innings; he yielded just two runs on seven hits. He struck out nine to assume the Carolina League lead with 58.

The Sox struck first in the second inning. A leadoff single from Drew Hedman became a run after a double from Alex Hassan and a single from Mitch Dening. Peacock struck out consecutive hitters to end that threat.

But the Sox got another in the fourth, and Dening was again involved. With two outs, Hassan doubled and scored on the next pitch when Dening singled to right field.

The Nats threatened in the ninth; back-to-back leadoff singles from Boomer Whiting and Steve Lombardozzi set the table for a rally. But Kyle Fernandes retired the next three hitters for his fourth save.

The clubs will play the rubber match Sunday at 4 P.M. Robinson Fabian will square off against Fabian Williamson. The broadcast can be heard beginning at 3:45.

The P-Nats return home for a nine-game homestand that starts Monday. Great seats are available, so call 703-590-2311 to reserve yours now.
