Mercury adds Sha Brooks and Jessica Addair to roster

PHOENIX - The Phoenix Mercury selected Florida guard Sha Brooks and George Washington center Jessica Adair in the third round of the 2009 WNBA Draft, the club announced today.

Brooks, a 5-7 guard, led her team in scoring in 2008-09 and averaged 16.4 points, 2.8 rebounds and 4.7 assists in 30.4 minutes per game for the Gators of Florida. She started all but one of her 126 career games and never missed a game in four seasons at Florida. The Jackson, Tennessee native was a unanimous 2009 All-SEC selection and was a 2009 Associated Press All-American Honorable Mention. She enters the WNBA with collegiate averages of 14.5 points, 3.2 rebounds and 2.8 assists per game.

Adair also led her team in scoring in 2008-09, posting averages of 13.7 points, 7.4 rebounds and 1.65 blocks in 24.8 minutes per game for George Washington. The 34th overall pick in the third round, the 6-4 center graduates with career averages of 12.7 points, 6.7 rebounds and 1.37 blocks in 23.6 minutes per game. She was named to the All-Atlantic 10 First Team in 2007 and 2008.
