SAN ANTONIO - The San Antonio Silver Stars selected Megan Frazee (14th), Sonja Petrovic (26th) and Candyce Bingham (39th) in the 2009 WNBA Draft presented by adidas today, according to General Manager and Head Coach Dan Hughes.

Frazee, a 6'3" forward out of Liberty University, earned Big South Player of the Year honors after averaging 20.3 points and 10.0 rebounds per game for the Flames this past season. During her four-year collegiate career, Frazee averaged 18.6 points and 9.3 rebounds per game.

"Megan Frazee is a very interesting prospect," said Hughes. "She's strong, has one of the best three-point shooting abilities of any player in the draft. We like her versatility. She's strong enough to finish near the goal, but skilled enough to stretch the floor."

Petrovic, 6'1", is a 19-year-old Serbian National Team player who currently plays for Spartak in Moscow along with WNBA superstars Diana Taurasi, Sue Bird and Lauren Jackson. She has been recovering from a knee injury this season, but was the 2007 FIBA Young Women's Player of the Year following a stellar season with the French EuroLeague team Bourges Basket.

"Sonja has tremendous up side," said Hughes. "We don't know exactly when, but we look forward to having her be part of the Silver Stars family. She is very competitive with a strong perimeter game."

A 6'1" forward out of Louisville, Bingham helped guide the Cardinals to the NCAA National Championship game this season, averaging 12.3 points and 7.2 rebounds per game and earning All-Big East Second Team honors along the way.

"Candyce Bingham was on our short list of players from the very beginning and we were so pleased to be able to finish the draft by selecting her," said Hughes. "She really helped Louisville this season with her interior play, her hustle and leadership. We are excited to have her in training camp."

The Silver Stars open the 2009 season June 6 at Phoenix before hosting New York on June 13 at the AT&T Center. Affordable full and partial season ticket plans and single-game tickets are on sale now. Visit or call (210) 444.5090 for more information.
