Dream Adds Lehning And Morrow On Draft Day

Atlanta, April 9, 2009- The Atlanta Dream wrapped up the 2009 WNBA Draft this afternoon, selecting Kansas State guard Shalee Lehning in the second round (25th overall) and Baylor guard/forward Jessica Morrow in the third round (27th overall). Earlier today, the Dream chose Louisville star Angel McCoughtry with the first overall pick of the draft.
Lehning, a 5-9 point guard, is a three-time All-Big 12 selection (two-time first team selection) and finished her career as the all-time assist leader at Kansas State (771). This season she averaged 10.7 points, 7.0 rebounds and 7.6 assists per game and recorded three triple-doubles. The Big 12 leader in assists, Lehning tallied over 200 assists each of the past two seasons. She was a finalist for some of the nation's top honors, including the Wooden Award, the Lieberman Award and the Lowe's Senior CLASS Award. Her accolades this season include CoSIDA/ESPN the Magazine Academic All-America third team, CoSIDA/ESPN the Magazine Academic All-District VII first team and to the Academic All-Big 12 first team.
Morrow, a 6-0 guard forward, averaged 11.2 points, 2.9 rebounds and 1.6 assists per game this season for the Lady Bears. She became the 25th player in program history to surpass the 1,000 points mark in her career. Her accolades include All-Big Ten honorable mention (2008, 2009) and Big 12 Championship All-Tournament team honors (2007).
Dream General Manager & Head Coach Marynell Meadors will introduce number one overall pick Angel McCoughtry during a press conference scheduled for Monday, April 13 at the downtown Atlanta Marriott (160 Spring Street NW Atlanta, Georgia 30303) at 11 a.m. The press conference is open to the general public.
The Dream will also host an exclusive "Meet the Number Ones" event at the Marriott on Monday evening, during which season ticket holders will have the opportunity to mingle with McCoughtry and former number one pick Chamique Holdsclaw (1999 Draft). The Dream will tip off its second season on Saturday, June 6, 2009 at 7 p.m. against the Indiana Fever.
