Merasty Dealt to Rapid City
February 27, 2018 - ECHL (ECHL)
Wichita Thunder News Release
Wichita, KS - The Wichita Thunder, ECHL affiliate of the NHL's Edmonton Oilers, AHL's Bakersfield Condors and powered by Toyota, announced today that forward Shaquille Merasty has been dealt to the Rapid City Rush for cash considerations ahead of the team's contest tonight against Fort Wayne.
Merasty, 26, has appeared in 20 games during his rookie campaign, recording five points (3g, 2a) over that span. He turned pro this season after playing three years at the University of Manitoba.
Wichita prepares tonight for a Tuesday match-up against the Fort Wayne Komets. This is the first and only visit of the season for the Komets to INTRUST Bank Arena. The Thunder will play Fort Wayne one more time on the road in March. The Komets have won the first two games of the season-series with both meetings taking place at War Memorial Coliseum.
The Thunder lost a pair of games in Utah last weekend, falling 7-3 on Friday night and losing 5-4 in a shootout on Saturday. The Komets are currently riding a five-game winning streak. Fort Wayne knocked off Greenville in overtime last Saturday, 3-2.
Wichita is four points back of Idaho for second place in the Mountain and looks to snap a four-game winless skid tonight. The Komets are one point back of Toledo for first in the Central Division.
Garrett Thompson leads the Komets with six points (2g, 4a) against the Thunder. Ralph Cuddemi (2g, 1a) and Chad Butcher (1g, 2a) each have three against Fort Wayne.
Join us tonight for $2 Tuesday against the Fort Wayne Komets at 7:05 p.m. Popcorn and medium drinks are just $2!
