Mavs Minutes

A Walk In The Parks

Mavric Parks was named CCM/ECHL Goaltender of the Week after a two-win weekend against the Allen Americans that included his first-career shutout. The Eganville, Ontario native stopped 48 of 51 shots faced over the pair of games for a .941 Save Percentage and was perfect in his 22-save shutout on Saturday, the first 1-0 win for the Mavericks since Nov. 7, 2015 over Wichita.

Second Line Leads The Way

The second forward line of Corey Durocher-Mark Cooper-Jared VanWormer has carried the play on the offensive end for the Mavericks of late, all three players entering Tuesday's game on a three-game scoring streak. VanWormer has scored a goal in back-to-back games while Durocher has a helper in three-straight and Cooper has recorded an assist in each of the last two games.

Keeping Pace

The Mavericks have been able to stay within striking distance of a playoff position thanks to wins in each of their last two games. Despite an eight-game losing streak that spanned from the beginning of February until Friday's game against Allen, the Mavs are only three points behind fourth-place Kalamazoo for the final playoff spot in the Central Division and are just four points back of third-place Cincinnati. Four teams (Indy - fifth) are all within four points of the third and fourth seeds in the playoffs in a tight race.

Mountain Climbers

The Mavericks face off against another Mountain Division team on Tuesday as they host the Rapid City Rush, last-place in the division. Kansas City has been strong against the Mountain Division all year, coming into Tuesday's game with a record of 14-10-0-1 against that group and a 1-1-0-0 mark against Rapid City.

Taking A Toll

The Mavericks have been able to wear teams down over the course of games, evidenced by the team's goal total increasing with each period. KC enters Tuesday's game with 45 first-period goals on the year, 46 in the second and 52 in the final frame. The Mavericks are also 7-2 in games that go beyond regulation this year with an unblemished 4-0 mark in games that finish in three-on-three overtime.
