Mavericks Fall to Rush, 2-1
February 27, 2018 - ECHL (ECHL)
Kansas City Mavericks News Release
INDEPENDENCE, Mo. - The Kansas City Mavericks (27-27-0-2) fell by a 2-1 final score to the Rapid City Rush (20-32-2-1) Tuesday night at Silverstein Eye Centers Arena.
A quiet night on the offensive end was highlighted by Mavericks captain Tyler Elbrecht's first goal of the campaign, a shot from the neutral zone that trickled through Rush netminder Adam Vay who was otherwise solid on the night with 27 saves.
Rapid City capitalized on goals from Matt Caito and Kenton Miller, both in the first period, in the victory.
The Mavericks outshot the Rush by a 28-24 count, limiting the visiting team to just two shots in the final frame. The defensive performance in the last 20 was all for naught as KC was unable to light the lamp with the equalizer.
The loss snaps a two-game win streak that the Mavericks had built with a pair of victories over Allen.
The Mavericks return to action Friday as they open a two-game set against Fort Wayne at Silverstein Eye Centers Arena.
