
Men O' War Prepare for Opening Weekend

Lexington, KY- The Lexington Men O' War wrapped up their exhibition season unbeaten at 2-0-0. Lexington defeated Peoria on Friday 4-1 at Rupp Arena. Saturday afternoon the MOW stumped the Rivermen again 2-1 in a shootout. This week Lexington will play the first home game in the club's history Friday, October 11th at Rupp Arena. The Greensboro Generals visit the Men O' War Friday night and Saturday night of opening weekend. Both games are scheduled for 7:30.
Exhibition Game A, October 4th
Men O' War 4, Rivermen 1
Daryl Moor scored the first goal in MOW history with 10:44 remaining in the first period. Adrianno Fiacconi provided the game winner later in the first period. Jamie Carroll and Jared Smyth added insurance goals in the third period. Dan Murphy worked the first half of the game and shutout the Rivermen stopping all eight shots he faced. Jeremy Day stopped 22 of 23 shots in the second half of the game to preserve the win for the MOW.
Exhibition Game B, October 5th
Men O' War 2, Rivermen 1 SO
Moor scored the game-winning goal in a shootout to give the MOW their second exhibition victory. Day received first star honors as he turned away 22 of 23 shots including all four in the shootout. Murphy continued his shutout streak by working 29:15 of scoreless hockey. Smyth scored for the second straight night with 16:28 gone in the first period, and added a goal in the shootout.
Upcoming Games ......
The MOW will host Greensboro on opening weekend. The Generals visit Rupp Arena for the only time this season at 7:30 on Friday and Saturday. Rick Addunno, former South Carolina Stingray Head Coach enters his first season with the Generals. Addunno won three cups in seven seasons with the Rays. He won two cups as an assistant coach and one as a head coach (2001). In four years as coach in South Carolina, Adduono posted a record of 156-94-34 for a .609 winning percentage. Greensboro finished with the leagues worst record last year at 23-41-8.

MOW Tracks ......
Murphy stopped all 25 shots he faced in 60 minutes of play. Day stopped 44 of 46 shots in equal playing time. Lexington goaltenders combined for a 97.1% save percentage and a goals against average of 1.00. Smyth led the team in exhibition scoring with 3 points (2G, 1A) in two games. Moor tallied a goal in each game.
