Bakersfield Condors News Release

Bakersfield, CA -- The Bakersfield Condors of the West Coast Hockey League made some moves today, releasing three more players and taking a step closer to solidifying the roster for Opening Night on Saturday, October 12th. Bakersfield defeated the Fresno Falcons 5-2 in preseason action last Saturday at the Garden.

Forwards Dave Colucci and Anders Johnson, and defenseman Ales Havlik were released today. Head Coach Paul Kelly announced the changes this morning. The Condors now have 21 players on the roster, not including Quinn Fair or Garret Stroshein.

Fair will not be ready to play at the start of the season, as he is still recovering from off-season surgery. Stroshein is on loan to the Portland Pirates in the American Hockey League. His exact return date is unknown. League rules allow for 20 active players on the roster, with one extra spot designated for Injured Reserve.

"It's a shame that I have to let these guys go," said Kelly. "We believe they can play at the pro level. Last season, all three of them probably would've made the roster, but we have a really strong group in here. I have confidence that they will find a place to play this season, and we're definitely keeping our eye on them for the future."

Opening Night for the Condors 5th Anniversary season is just 5 days away with Bakersfield hosting the reigning Taylor Cup Champion Fresno Falcons at Centennial Garden on Saturday, October 12th.
