Memphis Redbirds News Release
Memphis, Tenn. - Memphis picked up their third straight win over Omaha thanks to Chris Narveson's complete game in the Redbirds 7-1 victory Monday night.
Narveson scattered five hits and allowed one run on a Billy Butler home run in the fourth inning. The lefty walked only one batter and struck out seven en route to his second win of the year. After the Butler home run he retired 13 of the next 15 batters he faced and needed 118 pitches to throw the team's first complete game of the season. The complete game was Narveson's first since 2003 and third of his career.
The Redbirds offense burst out of the gate for the second straight day scoring six runs in the first three innings. Ryan Ludwick's three-run homer in the first put Memphis on the board, and Rick Ankiel's two-run blast in the third put the 'Birds up 6-0. Ludwick drove in four runs and had two hits to lead Memphis.
The 'Birds and Royals will wrap up their four-game series tomorrow with an afternoon game. Matt Ginter is set to twirl for Memphis and Ben Hendrickson will get the nod for the O-Royals. Game time is slated for 1:10 p.m.
