Padres Recall Oscar Robles, Option Aaron Rakers

PORTLAND, Ore. - The San Diego Padres today recalled Portland infielder Oscar Robles and optioned right-handed pitcher Aaron Rakers (ROCK-erz) to the Beavers.

Robles, 31, was batting .309 (17-for-55) with three doubles, three triples, six runs scored, five walks and six RBIs in 16 games with the Beavers. In parts of two major league seasons with the Los Angeles Dodgers (2005-06), Robles batted .262 with 18 doubles, 50 runs scored, five home runs and 34 RBIs in 139 games.

Rakers, 30, did not allow a run and gave up one hit in one appearance (1.0ip) with the Padres after having his contract purchased April 18. In parts of three major league seasons with Baltimore (2004-05) and San Diego (2007), Rakers is 1-0 with a 3.32 ERA (7er, 19.0ip) in 14 relief appearances. The right-hander is 0-0 with a 1.00 ERA (1er, 9.0ip) and seven strikeouts in five relief appearances with Portland this season.

The Beavers' active roster remains at its 24-man limit.
