TODAY'S OPPONENT:

The Round Rock Express are the Triple-A affiliate of Houston Astros. The have been a member of the Pacific Coast League since 2005. Express was the Double-A affiliate for Houston 2000-2004. Last year, Round Rock finished first in the American South with a record of 85-59.

TODAY'S GAME:

Game 18 of the season, and third game of four-game road trip.

ROSTER MOVES:

Righthander Frank Francisco was recalled by Texas today. Mike Bumstead was promoted from Frisco and will pitch out of the RedHawks' bullpen.

LAST GAME:

RedHawks continued to stay hot and defeated the Express 7-2. Victor Diaz led the way on offense, going 2-for-4 with four RBIs. 'Hawk starter John Koronka got his first win of the season, allowing only two runs on four hits over seven innings.

VS. ROUND ROCK:

The Express won the season series last year 10-6, and lead the overall series 20-14. RedHawk hitters hit .248 with 11 homers vs. Express pitching last year. 'Hawk pitchers had a 4.22 ERA vs. the Express.

PITCHING MATCHUP:

Mike Wood takes the mound for the third time this season for the RedHawks. Wood earned a no-decision in his last start against Nashville Tuesday. He allowed four runs (two earned) on four hits in five innings. Juan Gutierrez pitches for Round Rock.

UNLOADED:

Diaz's base hit with the bases loaded yesterday was the first bases loaded hit for the RedHawks this season. The 'Hawks are now (1-14) with seven RBIs this season with the bases loaded.

DIAZ COMES UP BIG:

Diaz has seven RBIs in two games against the Express this season. His season total is now 18 after he knocked in four more yesterday.

BYRD FLYING HIGH:

RedHawk OF Marlon Byrd has a hit in six consecutive games. He is 11-for-24 with two doubles, a triple, an RBI and two runs scored in the last six games. He's now eighth in the league in hitting with a .373 avg.

GETTING ON BASE:

CF Freddy Guzman has reached base in 14 consecutive games by hit or walk. Guzman went 3-for-3 with a double, triple and an RBI with three runs scored and two walks yesterday.

SHUTTIN' 'EM DOWN:

For the season, the bullpen has pitched 50.1 innings and allowed only five runs with 54 strikeouts. 'Hawk relievers have a combined ERA of 0.89 on the season.

BIG INNING BITES STARTERS:

'Hawk starters have had trouble avoiding the big inning this season. They've allowed three or more runs in an inning nine times this season. The starters are 4-7 combined with a 4.85 ERA.

'HAWKS VS. PCL:

RedHawk pitchers lead the PCL in fewest hits allowed with 112. Nashville is second with 132 hits allowed. 'Hawk hitters are last in the PCL with only five combined home runs.

DOT-DOT-DOT

: Drew Meyer is riding a six-game hitting streak into today's game ... David Matranga has a five-game hit streak going ... 'Hawks had a season high five hits with runners in scoring position yesterday (5-13) ... 'Hawks are hitting .194 (30-155) on the season with RISP ... The seven runs RedHawks scored yesterday are tied for the most this season in one game.
