Memphis 901 FC News Release
MEMPHIS, Tennessee - Memphis 901 FC is back at AutoZone Park for the only time in the month of August to host North Carolina FC tomorrow night at 7:30.
In its last outing Tuesday night at Saint Louis FC, 901 FC earned a point with a gritty 0-0 draw despite playing with just 10 players for over 60 minutes of action. Cam Lindley was shown a red card in the 27th minute for 901 FC, but the club buckled down and played stout defense in securing the draw against 10th-place Saint Louis.
Memphis and North Carolina matched up earlier this season on April 6 in North Carolina, which was a 1-1 stalemate. 901 FC got on the scoreboard first with a Marc Burch penalty kick, and North Carolina FC tied it up in the 78th minute when Marios Lomis put one home. Five of Memphis' 12 shots in the game were on target, and possession was nearly split 50-50 in 901 FC's fifth match of its inaugural campaign.
Tomorrow's match against North Carolina FC continues a tough stretch on the 901 FC schedule. Including this match, Memphis has played six-straight matches against teams currently in the playoff picture (North Carolina, 5th; Saint Louis, 10th; Pittsburgh, 6th; Ottawa, 8th; New York, 2nd; Nashville, 3rd) and eight-of-10 overall. A ninth, Charlotte Independence, is only out of the playoff picture by one point.
After building its inaugural season roster, Memphis 901 FC has not been content. Since then, the club has added key contributors Lindley (April 12), Jochen Graf (April 25), Lagos Kunga (May 13), Brandon Allen (June 26), Marcus Epps (Aug. 2), Pierre Da Silva (Aug. 5), and Liam Doyle (Aug. 5) as the season has progressed.
Following tomorrow's match, 901 FC hits the road for four-straight matches through the beginning of September. Memphis' next match in Downtown Memphis is Saturday, Sept. 7 against Swope Park Rangers.
