Mechanics Head Coach Suspended

Fraser, MI – Motor City Mechanics Head Coach Steve Shannon has been suspended for the remainder of the 2004-05 season by the United Hockey League. Assistant Coach John Blum has been issued a 10 game suspension.

The United Hockey League rendered the following suspensions as a result of the bounty placed on Flint Generals forward Kevin Kerr: Coach Shannon is suspended for the remainder of this season under Rule 33A for supplementary discipline. Assistant Coach Blum is being issued a 10 game suspension under Rule 33A for his actions.

"We regret the suspension of our Head Coach Steve Shannon and our Assistant Coach John Blum. However, as a partner in the United Hockey League we support the league's decision," stated Mechanics President John Tull. "The UHL and the Motor City Mechanics simply do not condone such behavior as "head hunting" on the ice."

Vice President and Director of Hockey Operations Garry Unger will serve as interim head coach. Mark Davis will continue to serve as assistant coach.
