Mechanics Earn Four of Six Points

Fraser, MI – The Motor City Mechanics picked up two wins under new Head Coach Danton Cole this week and earned four of a possible six points.

Friday, March 4th vs. Quad City 2-1 Loss: Jeff Doyle, assisted by Blair Manning and Chris Chelios, was the lone goal scorer for the Mechanics on Friday night. With the score tied at one heading into the second period, the Mallards found the back of the net 2:25 into the period on a power play goal. The third period remained scoreless and Quad City held on for the 2-1 win.

Saturday, March 5th vs. Missouri 3-1 WIN: Sean Avery lead the way for the Mechanics with a hat trick in the Mechanics 3-1 win over the River Otters on Saturday night. Avery scored short handed 16:15 into the first period to put Motor City on the board. Just 30 seconds later, the Otters tied the game on the power play. Avery scored twice more, both goals coming two minutes apart in the second period. Bryan Smolinski added three assists on the evening and Chris Chelios added two.

Sunday, March 6th @ Flint 5-2 WIN: Mike Burgoyne scored his first two goals of the season, both on the power play, and added an assist in the Mechanics 5-2 victory at Flint on Sunday. The Mechanics jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first period. Flint controlled the pace of the game in the second, closing the gap to 3-2. Jeff Doyle shifted the momentum back on to the Mechanics side, scoring 1:11 into the third period. Burgoyne added the final goal of the game to give the Mechanics a 5-2 win. Rod Branch earned his second win in goal for the weekend. Chris Gignac and Bryan Smolinski also scored for the Mechanics.

UP NEXT: The Mechanics play only one game this week. On March 12th, Motor City heads to Kalamazoo to take on the K-Wings. In their last outing against the Wings, the Mechanics earned a 5-2 victory on the heels of a Blair Manning hat trick.

Next Home Games: The Mechanics play at The Garage on March 18th, 19th and 20th when they host Adirondack, Richmond and Muskegon. There are tickets still remaining for all three games! Friday and Saturday night game time is 7:30pm and Sunday's game begins at 5:00pm.

MEET THE MECHANICS: Meet the Mechanics TOMORROW, Tuesday March 8th from 7-9pm at Cheli's Chili located in Dearborn (21918 Michigan Ave). The entire team will be available to meet and sign autographs. This event is open to the public.
