March 7, 2005 - International Hockey League 2 (IHL 2)
Port Huron Flags News Release
In Brief
· 3/4: Third Victory in a Row
The Beacons fought to a 3-3 tie after regulation play. Adirondack started the scoring in the first followed by two Beacon goals. Josh Tataryn (21) and Trevor Edwards (14) gave the Beacons the 2-1 lead heading into the second period. Kyle Sheen (7, 1 as a Beacon) scored just 2:36 into the second giving the Beacons the 3-1 lead. Adirondack followed that up with two goals of their own tying the game at 3-3 after two periods. The third period saw no scoring as both teams had numerous chances to bury the puck, however, both goaltenders stood tall and forced the game to a shootout. The third shootout in as many games for the Beacons ended like the previous two did, with a win. Three Beacons scored in the extra frame while only one Frostbite player was able to beat goaltender, Stu Dunn. Josh Tataryn, Jeff Goldie and Trevor Edwards all scored in the shootout and Stu Dunn made three saves on four shots to secure the win,
· 3/5: Tight Defensive Battle
It was newcomer Kyle Sheen who started the game off with a goal at 2:43 of the first period. His second goal in as many days (8, 2 as a Beacon) gave the Beacons the 1-0 lead. Elmira would respond just eight minutes later and thus ended the first period tied at one. Joey Sewell (23) scored just 3:45 into the second and gave the Beacons the lead for good. It would end that way as the Beacons shut down every attempt the Jackals could muster. The 2-1 win gave the Beacons their fourth win in a row and ties their season long win streak. Stu Dunn made the start again for the fourth game in a row making 32 saves on 33 shots.
· 3/6: RiverOtters Swim in After Losing to the Mechanics
Three goals were scored within the first six minutes of the game; unfortunately it was the RiverOtters who had two of those. The Beacons jumped out to a 1-0 lead just 4:32 into the game off of a Gabriel Proulx goal (9), assisting was Andrew McPherson (34) and Joey Sewell (24). That goal must have awoken the Otters as they would go on to score four straight goals in the first and second periods. The other lone Beacon goal was scored by David Beauregard (38) with helpers from Joey Sewell (25) and Shayne Tomlinson (12). Stu Dunn made the start for the fourth straight game and made 22 saves on 27 shots before being replaced at the start of the third by Daniel Berthiaume, who made four saves on four shots.
